5. Supplied with the WZL155 as a two wet axle set, OEM support, stable overseas supply
The WGL155 rigid drive axle was specially developed by Shandong Lutong Heavy Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. for 15-ton wheeled excavators. It is one of the key transmission components of heavy road machinery and is a special design intended for operation with wheeled excavators under high-load conditions. This rigid rear bogie can be used in the WZL155 steering drive axle. When installed on 15-ton wheeled excavators and similar machines, the WGL155, being a purely rigid wet-type rear bogie, provides the load-bearing capacity of the rear part of the machine, power transmission, and continuous braking. At the same time, it complements the functionality of the WZL155 front bogie, which is responsible for steering, and together with it forms a complete high-quality transmission system for wheeled excavators.

Main advantages of the key product: WGL155 rigid drive axle
1. The one-piece reinforced rigid axle housing design ensures maximum load capacity at the rear.
A one-piece cast reinforced rigid axle housing design is used without an articulated connection to the frame, which provides higher overall rigidity. The housing has increased resistance to deformation and impacts, so during prolonged operation under full load it does not deform or crack. The design is adapted to key operating conditions — impact loads during excavator operation and long-distance travel.
2. The main reducer with large-diameter, high-strength bevel gears ensures slip-free transmission under high loads.
The rigid rear axle is equipped with a main reducer with large-diameter, high-strength bevel gears, which guarantees sufficient transmission capacity when the vehicle is driven fully loaded and when climbing steep slopes with a large cargo mass; at the same time, the gears are not prone to jamming and breakage. Transmission efficiency is stable, power losses under high loads are minimal, which allows fuel consumption to be significantly reduced on long journeys.
3. The wet braking system at the wheel edges provides sustained braking under high load, increasing safety during turns and when driving downhill.
The standard configuration of the rear axle includes a wet braking system kit at the wheel edges, which features increased braking torque and excellent heat dissipation characteristics. During prolonged operation under full load when descending mountains or during high-speed turns, the system ensures continuous braking without thermal degradation of performance. The fully enclosed design protects against water and dust, which guarantees stable operation of the braking system during long-term use in mines and on swampy construction sites. This eliminates the shortcomings of traditional dry rear axle braking systems, which are prone to overheating and failure.
4. The four-wheel planetary reducer ensures even load distribution under full load.
The wheel hub design adopts a four-wheel planetary gear reduction scheme, which, under continuous input of high torque, evenly distributes the load among multiple groups of planetary gears, significantly reducing the load on each individual gear. This greatly decreases fatigue loss of the gears during long-distance travel on uneven roads and extends the overall service life of the rigid rear axle.
5. Modular rigid assembly for high loads: standardized rear axle mounting points ensure high compatibility during configuration.
The WGL155 wet-lubricated rigid rear axle has a modular design, making it easy to adjust dimensions during installation. This simplifies adaptation to the rear bottom slots of wheeled excavators of various capacities up to 15 tons, ensures convenience for series assembly, and reduces configuration and upgrade costs for the main equipment manufacturer.
Adaptation to application scenarios
The WGL155 rigid rear axle can be used in the WZL155 steering drive axle for 15-ton wheeled excavators. The WZL155 front axle is responsible for steering and front-wheel drive, while the WGL155 rigid rear axle is responsible for the machine’s main load-carrying capacity, continuous power transmission, and performing braking tasks over long distances. The set of two wet axles is suitable for operation under high-load conditions: earth hauling, sand and gravel transport, mining work, long-distance road travel, leveling large areas, etc. When driving fully loaded and during long-distance travel on downhill grades, the WGL155 provides stable support and reliable braking; combined with the steering flexibility of the WZL155, this allows the 15-ton wheeled excavator to combine mobility and the high load-carrying capacity of the rear axle, meeting manufacturers’ needs in the development and export of complete machines, while also ensuring adaptability to the operating conditions of heavy construction sites in Russia and Central Asian countries.
Company strength | Shandong Lutong — a specialized supplier of axle components for heavy-duty trucks.
Shandong Lutong has been engaged in the development and production of axle structures for construction machinery for many years. For such key high-load-bearing components as the WGL155 rigid drive axle, an independent high-load research and testing system has been established. This design can be used in the WZL155 steering drive axle and provides a complete solution with two axle structures for a 15-ton rotary excavator.
1. Technological research and development potential
Leveraging its own transmission laboratory, the WGL155 model enables various bench tests and simulates a variety of operating conditions to verify performance characteristics. The development team can, together with the manufacturer, adjust gear ratios and torque parameters, synchronously issue 2D/3D drawings and test reports, and support the joint development of the chassis as a whole — all of this makes it possible to meet the strict requirements of technical audits in overseas operating conditions. The company holds a number of patents in the field of wet braking and heavy rigid axles, has independently mastered the full set of key technologies for producing high-quality wet axles, and does not depend on external technical outsourcing.
2. The Power of Quality Control
Throughout the entire production chain of the WGL155 rigid drive axle, batch traceability management is implemented, from component processing to assembly, with mandatory inspection nodes established in each process; 100% of finished products undergo load-running-in and wet brake leak testing in autonomous mode. It is equipped with a full set of precision testing equipment for strict non-destructive testing, gear meshing, and axle housing sealing inspections, as well as for strict control of high-frequency failure points of the rear axle, such as leakage, abnormal noise, and torque deviation. Thanks to ISO9001 quality system certification, every batch of products can undergo full quality control, ensuring that products meet requirements when supplied in large quantities and reducing the failure rate of the entire equipment in autonomous mode at manufacturers.
3. Supply and Supply Chain Assurance
The company has an intelligent production line for manufacturing automobile axles and maintains a sufficient stock of main components. Key components — such as rigid axle housings and gears — are produced in-house. This makes it possible to accept long-term orders from major customers and fulfill them in stages. For overseas export orders, provision is made for early commercial inspection and archiving of documentation, as well as optimization of packaging and product protection to adapt to long sea shipments — this helps reduce the risk of damage during cross-border transportation. Delivery times can be flexibly adjusted in accordance with the main customer’s production plan; large orders are guaranteed to be delivered within the established timeframes, ensuring compliance with the launch schedule of production projects.
4. Experience in supplying and servicing major components
For a long time, we have been supplying axle assemblies for leading domestic and foreign chassis manufacturers such as SANY, XCMG, Shantui, LiuGong, Leyvo, Yingxuan, as well as for Russian companies PZT, Amkodor, and UMG. We have extensive experience in managing chassis supply projects. For the WGL155 rear axle, we provide technical support throughout the entire lifecycle: we advise on assembly, conduct fault analysis, and ensure the supply of spare parts. In addition, together with chassis manufacturers, we can monitor the reliability of the entire equipment and continuously improve the performance of the rear axle.
If manufacturers of wheeled excavators for construction equipment worldwide require complete technical specifications, assembly drawings, prototype test results, wholesale OEM offers, or custom development of complete axle bogies for the WGL155 model — with rigid drive — they can contact our engineers specializing in axle bogies for construction equipment. We invite them to book a tour of the production workshops and laboratories to familiarize themselves with the equipment.
